Southern Maryland Chain Chapter

Three to six scholarships to college bound seniors in the tri-county area. $500.00 or $1,000 scholarships awarded.

Scholarship opened to seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, a social commitment to community service, the potential for leadership and the need for a financial source to help with college expenses.

Applications and descriptions of the scholarship are available in the scholarship drawer in the seminar room in Guidance.

Erica Weems Memorial Scholarship


Deadline for this scholarship is April 15, 2018

Erica Weems was killed in a car accident in 2007 and was a graduate from Calvert High School. She was an athlete and as an adult shared her abilities and talents as a coach and teacher at Patuxent High. This scholarship, in her name, will be awarded to two female athletes in the amount of $1000 each.

Requirements:

  • Must be a female athlete.
  • Must be a senior planning to attend college.
  • Must demonstrate strong character and a positive outlook on life.
  • Coach's recommendation.
  • Required Essay.

Federal Water Quality Association - 2018 Environmental Scholarships

Deadline for this scholarship is April 9, 2018


If you are preparing for careers in Environmental Protection this may be a good scholarship for you to apply for. These scholarships are in the amount of $2000 each.

Items you must have to apply:

  • SAT /ACT scores
  • Reference letter
  • Description of extra curricular activities
  • Essay
  • Acceptance letter from college you will be attending.

American Society of Military Comptrollers

Application Deadline: March 1, 2018


This Chapter is offering scholarship awards for those high school seniors getting ready to pursue a degree in business or finance related degrees. If chosen for this scholarship, seniors also have the opportunity to apply for national scholarships.

Students must:

- Be a senior living in the tri-county area
- Major on business or finance
- Have 3 letters of recommendations
- Must be in good standing at your school.
- Have been accepted to a college at the time of application deadline.

An interview with the scholarship committee is required as well as agreeing, if given this local scholarship, to go on to the national scholarship.

Locally, this scholarship is worth $500.00. Nationally, scholarships can range from $1,000-$3,000.


Applications are available in the scholarship drawer in the seminar room located in Guidance.

National Naval Officers Association 2018

Each year, the Washington, DC Chapter of the NNOA (DCNNOA) awards scholarships starting at $1,000 to minority youth from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area based on academic achievement, positive community involvement, commitment, and financial need. Scholarship recipients select their major and attend the college or university of their choice without any obligation to join or affiliate with the military; unless stipulated by the scholarship sponsor.

Central Scholarship awards $1,000,000 to Maryland residents each year for college and career training.

Straus Foundation Scholars Grants - up to $5,000   
 Who should apply? Graduating high school seniors, Baltimore Metro area.

The Chernak Family Scholarship Fund - up to $2,000  
Who should apply? Graduating H.S. Seniors, and current undergraduate students pursuing undergraduate degrees in education at accredited U.S. institutions  
     
Richard Louis Caplan Memorial Scholarship for the Study of 
Music Performance - up to $5,000  
 Who should apply? College students who will be juniors or seniors this fall, with a declared major in music performance in piano, guitar, voice or one of the standard string, woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments of the orchestra. 
          
Charles Crane Family Foundation Grant Program for Jewish Studies - up to $5,000
Who should apply? Graduating h.s. seniors, or current college students
planning to spend a year pursuing post-secondary Judaic studies full time in Israel are eligible.  OR, students who have declared a Jewish Studies major at any US or Israeli college, university, yeshiva or seminary.   
Mary Rubin and Benjamin M. Rubin Scholarships for Women   
Who's eligible? Women out of high school for at least 12 months are eligible.  This includes undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

Optimist of Calvert career/Vocational/Technical scholarship

This award must be used for advanced training at any trade school or community college that is approved by the Optimist Club. This scholarship is worth $3,000 for two year.

Applicants will be judged on character, citizenship ad scholastic ability. Financial need as well as thoughtfulness in completing the application will be also be considered.

Optimist Club of Calvert - Prince Frederick Scholarships

Deadline for this scholarship is April 15th , 2018

The Optimist Club of Calvert gives two annual scholarship awards for Calvert County seniors. First place winner will receive $8000.00 over four years. (Knapp Scholarship) and second place winner will receive $6000.00 over four years.

Applicants must be residents of Calvert County and  will be judged as to qualities of character, citizenship and scholastic ability.
