NSF-S-STEM scholarship
Be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or an eligible non-citizen;
Have financial need (as defined for undergraduate students by the U.S. Department of Education criteria for Federal Financial Aid);
Maintain full-time enrollment (minimum of 12 credits per semester) or part-time enrollment (greater than ½ time)
Have and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA;
Agree to participate in a one credit seminar, which would include an undergraduate research component, and participate in scholarship program activities.
An essay written by the applicant (450-500 words, typed, double-spaced) explaining your interest in your field of study, your qualifications and how you will benefit from this award
Complete College of Southern Maryland’s Placement Exam or submit appropriate SAT, ACT, AP or IB scores or demonstrate completion of college level English and Mathematics courses.

Scholarships will be awarded for academic achievement, high school activities (past school year), and the applicant’s ability to effectively articulate thoughts and ideas both orally and in writing. If selected, the candidate will be required to attend a zoom interview during the week of April 17-21, 2023. All Scholarship Recipients will be notified by May 8, 2023.

All requested documentation must be post marked or emailed to the Education Committee Chairperson, Mr. Shawn Coates. Once awarded, the scholarship check will be given to the recipient at the MSUSMAC Dinner Dance on 9/9/23 upon receipt of student registration for the 2023-2024 academic year. If you are selected for an interview, you will be notified via email of the date and time of your interview after your application packet has been received. The interviews will be held in late April.
