Maryland State Society Daughters of the American Revolution will award $1,500.00 to a graduating Maryland High School Senior. For this scholarship it is expected students maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Scholarships are awarded without regard to age, race, religion, sex, or national origin. Awards are based on academic excellence and finical need. Winners will be notified by the state chairman in February.

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

The Daughters of the American Revolution is an organization with a deeply rich history while also being truly relevant in today’s world. More than 1,000,000 women have joined the organization since it was founded over 125 years ago. They became members to honor their heritage as well as make a difference in their communities across the country and the world. 

Each scholarship opportunity has its own individual criteria and may require specific documents to be uploaded into your application. The scholarships opportunities range from nursing, medicine, occupational or physical therapy, law, business administration, English, math, chemistry, music (voice or piano only), American history, history, government, American Studies, historic preservation, horticulture, and elementary and secondary education. Two scholarships are specifically for Native American students (you must provide proof of membership in a federal or state-recognized tribe) and over twenty of the scholarships opportunities are for graduating high school students, college undergraduate students, or graduate students. Two scholarship are specifically for DAR members or DAR-descendants/dependents (you must be able to provide the DAR member’s name, national membership number, and your relationship to the DAR member).

Application Requirements: 

• A personal statement of 1,000 words or less setting forth the your career objectives.
• A recent copy of your high school transcript. Home-schooled students must include transcripts for grade nine through final year. 
• If selected as a scholarship recipient you will be required to submit an official copy mailed/emailed to DAR. Please note, DAR no longer requires SAT or ACT scores, or class size or class rank on your transcripts if you are a graduating high school student.
• Information required by specific scholarships such as financial need information, a letter of acceptance into a special program or a transcript stating you are in a special program like nursing or medicine
• Proof of tribal membership if a Native American, or special test scores if in a graduate program (such as MCAT or LSAT).
• Proof of United States citizenship; please photocopy one of the following documents: a birth certificate, naturalization papers, or the information page of your United States Passport. Cover all photographs. If listed, please blackout social security numbers.
• A ONE-PAGE document or listing of your extra-curricular activities, honors received, and scholastic achievements. The information to be uploaded should not exceed one-side of a 8 1/2 inch by 11 inch piece of paper.

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: March 1st, 2023

Scholarship value: $2,000-$6,500

These scholarships are awarded annually to individuals who exhibit an aptitude for learning and a desire for self-improvement through education. their Mission is to provide financial support for higher education which will enable deserving students to grow, prosper, and contribute to their communities.

• Recipients must reside in one of the counties served by Colonial Farm Credit. these counties that qualify can be found here .
• If selected to receive this scholarship you will be asked to send a headshot photo to be included in the annual report.
• If selected to receive this scholarship you will be asked to fill out and send a provided form to confirm your college attendance, your scholarship will not be distributed until this form is completed and confirmed. 

Application requirements: 

• High school transcript 
• Personal and educational background information 
• At least two reference letters 
• SAT and/or ACT scores (optional)

MD JCI Senate Scholarship

Deadline: January 13th, 2023 

Scholarship Value: $1,000

Awards available: 2

Each year the Maryland JCI Senate awards two $1,000 Scholarships

to deserving seniors from Maryland high schools. The Maryland

winners are chosen based on merit and need.

• Please note that all directions in the scholarship application must be followed explicitly for consideration. Failure to comply will result in the application not being reviewed. Common errors in the past include not submitting on time, not numbering pages as stated, not stapling the application, etc.

Solomons Optimist Club Scholarship

Deadline: April 15th, 2023

Scholarship Value: $2,000 (annual payments of  $500)

The Optimist Club Scholarship provides finical assistance to a student graduating from Patuxent High School for undergraduate study in a field and at a college or university of their choice. This scholarship is awarded in honor and dedication that the president, Mr. Hoofnagle, exhibited throughout the years of his service to the youth of Calvert County. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

• Must be a resident of Calvert County 
• In the current graduating class of Patuxent High School 
• Must be accepted to a college or university approved by the Optimist Club
• Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher

Heisman High School Scholarship

Deadline: October 18, 2022

Scholarship value: 1,000 to 10,000

Awards available: 100 to 2

• 100 State Winners receive a $1,000 scholarship
• 10 National Finalists receive a $2,000 scholarship
• 2 National Winners receive a $10,000 scholarship

The program recognizes and rewards male and female high school seniors who accomplish tremendous feats in the classroom, on the field, and most importantly, within their communities.

Eligibility requirements: 

• weighted GPA of 3.0 or more 
• participation in at least one sport 
• demonstrated leadership at school and in the community
