The Patuxent Partnership Pathways Scholarship at the College of Southern Maryland

Scholarship Value: this is a full scholarship, covering tuition, fees, and books for up to two years.

The Patuxent Partnership Pathways Scholarship will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan on attending the College of Southern Maryland and majoring in engineering to support STEM workforce development at NAWCAD. Students will be eligible to receive a full scholarship to cover tuition, fees, and books for up to two years, provided they continue to meet the eligibility requirements AND remain in good standing.

Application Requirements: 

• Must be a resident of Southern Maryland
• Must enroll as a full-time student at CSM
• Must possess and maintain a 3.0 GPA, with no grade lower than a B in designated courses such as Calculus II and Physics, and no grade below a C in other courses
• Must agree to apply to the Southern Maryland Pathways Program in Engineering, majoring in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland A. James Clark School, taught locally at the University System of Maryland (USMSM), and enroll upon acceptance

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation Scholarships

 Deadline: March 1st, 2023

Scholarship Value: $2,000

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation, Inc. was established by Colonial Farm Credit to promote education and community enrichment through educational scholarships and support of programs and services offered by community organizations. Every year this organization provides several scholarships to residents of Maryland and Virginia who are pursuing further education at a university or trade school. There are two scholarships available to Calvert County students this year, each worth $2,000.

Application Requirements: 

• Applications can be filled out on Colonial Farm Credit's website.
• Test scores are not required but may be added to applications. 
• Only one application is needed and will automatically put you in the running for all scholarships you are eligible for.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Scholarship

Deadline: January 15th, 2023

Scholarship Value: $1,500

Awards Available: 1 per chapter

This year, Maryland State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (MSSDAR) will award a $1500.00 scholarship to a graduating Maryland High School Senior who is a citizen of the United States. Applicants pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university are eligible. Scholarships are renewable for up to an additional 3 years upon annual review and approval of an official college transcript by the state chairman. It is expected that students maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Application Requirements: 

• Applicants must be citizens of the United States. 
• Applicants must submit a MSSDAR Financial Need Form.
• Letters of recommendation from 3 of the following: a teacher, a principal, a guidance counselor, current/previous employer, leader of a community group you have worked for, leader of a group you are an active member of, or a coach.
• Applicants must submit a copy of their birth certificate or naturalization papers to prove citizenship.
• Applicants must submit a high school transcript.
• Applications must be submitted through a local chapter of the DAR

Kenny Hoofnagle Scholarship

 Deadline: April 30th, 2023

Scholarship Value: $2,000

Awards Available: 1

    The Optimist Club of Solomons awards a $2,000 ($500 per year of attendance) scholarship to provide financial assistance to a student graduating from Patuxent High School for undergraduate study in the field and at a college or university of their choice. Ken Hoofnagle was our club charter president and we award this scholarship in honor of the service and dedication that Mr. Hoofnagle exhibited throughout the years of his service to the youth of Calvert County.

Application Requirements: 

• Applicants must be residents of Calvert County and must be in the graduating class of Patuxent High School. 
• Children, step-children, and grandchildren of members of the optimist club are not eligible for this award.
• The college or university chosen is subject to approval or denial by the Optimist Club.
• Scholarship may be suspended if a GPA of 2.5 minimum is not maintained
• Completed Student's Statement of Accuracy and Acknowledgement
• Completed Questionnaire
• 300-500 word essay

Calvert County Farm Bureau Scholarship

Deadline: May 12th, 2023

Scholarship Value: $1,500

Awards Available: 2

    The Calvert County Farm Bureau will award $1,500 college scholarships to up two students for the  2023-2022 school year. Applicants must be high school seniors starting college in the fall of 2023 or be current full-time students at any accredited community college, four-year institution or  vocational school.  Applicants or their parents/guardians/spouse must be members of the Calvert County  Farm Bureau at the time application is submitted​. Priority will be given to a candidate  pursuing an agricultural or environmental related degree. Presentation of the scholarship will be made at a Calvert County Farm Bureau event, to be  determined. Payment will be made directly to the college.  

Application Requirements: 

• Applicants must be high school seniors starting college in the fall of 2023 or be current full-time students at any accredited community college, four-year institution or  vocational school. 
• Applicants or their parents/guardians/spouse must be members of the Calvert County  Farm Bureau at the time application is submitted​.

    These scholarships resemble Going Merry scholarships. There are multiple available with different requirements. One scholarship is the IWSH Essay Scholarship Contest. The purpose of the scholarship is to acquaint the uninitiated with the crucial importance the plumbing industry plays in our everyday lives. To introduce students to the global impact of IWSH projects. Students must provide a copy of their current full-time schedule, school transcripts, or acceptance letter with their submission. Must be a current high school senior; or enrolled or accepted as a full-time (12 credit hours) student in an accredited technical school, community college, trade school, four-year accredited college or university, or an apprentice program.

    Another scholarship available is the Shawn Carter Scholarship The Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund (SCSF) was founded on the belief that any motivated individual in need should have the opportunity to further his or her education. By removing some of the financial burdens associated with going to, surviving in, and graduating from college, the SCSF plays a vital role in increasing college access and success for many motivated yet underserved youth and young adults. The SCSF provides individual grants, paid directly to the educational institution, to every student who qualifies and reapplies yearly, from admission to graduation. The grant can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books, lab fees, travel and select costs of living. All Shawn Carter Scholars are required to “give back” by conducting community service and by serving as mentors to younger, aspiring Shawn Carter Scholars.
