Two scholarships will be awarded. First place will receive $8,000 ($2,000 per year), and second place will receive $6,000 ($1,500 per year).
Applicants will be judged on character, citizenship, scholastic ability, community service, and financial need.
Requirements:
- Must reside in Calvert County and be in the current graduating class of a CCPS School
- Children, stepchildren, and grandchildren of members of the Optimist Club are not eligible
- Must be accepted o a college or university approved by the Optimist Club prior to award distribution
- Must complete the essay requirements stated on the second page of the application
- Funds for ensuing years will be paid during the month of August, directly to the student, upon the receipt of a certificate of enrollment for the fall semester and a copy of their current transcript
- Scholarships are scheduled for four (4) annual payments
- Recipients of the scholarship are expected to attend the June 10, 2019 meeting of the Optimist Club of Calvert-Prince Frederick to receive their award.
