Live an Amazing Life Adventure Grant

Open to women 18-30 living in Maryland, with a plan to have an adventure. Adventures might include taking a class, traveling, attending an internship, fellowship,or volunteer program, doing research, or many more opportunities we haven’t thought of.

This is a one time grant of $3000, paid in installments.
Applications requirements include: detailed budget and proposal, letter of recommendation, and brief application.  Deadline is January 12, 2020

The Girls Gone Great Scholarship

Open to women 17-24, living in Maryland who are attending or plan to attend a 4 year college. Special considerations will be given to students who are transferring from a 2 year school to a 4 year college. This award is a one time grant of $3000.

Requirements include: a short essay, letter or recommendation, and a brief application.

Daughters of the American Revolution


The Maryland State Society Daughters of the American Revolution will be awarding $1000 scholarships to Maryland residents. Deadline: January 15th 

 A 3.0 GPA is expected as well as goals toward earning an Associates or Bachelor's degree. 

This is a renewable scholarship. 

The application process includes the completion of the application as well as other required including 3 letters of recommendations from a teacher, school counselor, principal, or coach. 

Volunteer work in the community as well as being an active member in a group such as scouts, yearbook, church etc. are encouraged.

Kahlert Foundation Scholarship for Towson UTeach

The deadline for application to the Kahlert Foundation Scholarship for Towson UTeach (Incoming Freshmen) is December 1, 2019. This scholarship is for incoming freshman at Towson University, that study within the Towson UTeach Program in pursuit of a teaching certification in secondary school science or mathematics. To be eligible for this award you must be a Maryland resident, have a cumulative gpa of a 3.25 (unweighted),  enroll and maintain status as a full-time TU student (at least 12 credits), and declare a major aligned with the Towson UTeach Program (the secondary education concentration of the mathematics, biology, chemistry, earth-
space science, or physics major).

Horatio Alger Scholarship

If determination, integrity and courage describe you- you have what it takes to be a Horatio Alger Scholar.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2020 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

The American Leigon Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship

DEADLINE: May 13, 2019

The American Legion Auxiliary will award a scholarship up to $1000 to a qualified
applicant seeking an advanced education in the field of nursing. Such
advanced education may be taken at any accredited school.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. An applicant who is a child, grandchild, or ward of an honorably discharged
service person, MIA, POW, KIA, Killed on Active Duty or current member of
the US Armed Forces, or whose parent, grandparent, or guardian is a
current or past member of the American Legion Post or Unit 274 will be
given priority.
2. Applicants must be a high school senior accepted to an accredited school
for nursing or current student enrolled at an accredited school for nursing.
3. Applicants must carry a minimum of twelve (12) college credit hours each
semester.
4. Applicants will be judged on qualities of character, citizenship, and
scholarship. Letters of Recommendation from various organizations
(school, church, community, clubs) should be submitted with the
application.
5. A one-page typed autobiographical essay on why you have chosen the
nursing field and featuring any unusual circumstances or significant events
must be submitted with the application.
6. A college acceptance letter should be submitted with the application.
7. The scholarship award may be used for room, board, books, tuition and/or
fees.

2019 Calvert County Fair Miss Tranquility and Lord Calvert Contest

This is a scholarship for students and is not due till next year- in the Fall.  For students ages 16-19.

DEADLINE: September 6, 2019

The selection of Miss Tranquility and Lord Calvert will be made not only on the basis of
public speaking ability and poise, but also on scholastic achievement and participation in
school and community activities.

The winners and first runners up will each receive a college
scholarship and all other contestants will each receive a check (as long as all required hours
have been fulfilled).

All participants will be required to attend and assist with events during
the Fair. Miss Tranquility and Lord Calvert will also represent the Calvert County Fair at
several countywide events during their reigns.

If you would like to become a contestant, fill out the application
and return it, along with your official school transcript and your sponsor’s entry fee of
$50.00, by Friday, September 6, 2019.

Erica Weems Memorial Scholarship

DEADLINE : April 30, 2019

Erica Weems was killed in a car accident in 2007 and was a graduate from Calvert High School. She was an athlete and as an adult shared her abilities and talents as a coach and teacher at Patuxent High. This scholarship, in her name, will be awarded to two female athletes in the amount of $1000 each.

Requirements:
  • Must be a female athlete.
  • Must be a senior planning to attend college.
  • Must demonstrate strong character and a positive outlook on life.
  • Coach's recommendation.

CAESS Scholarship

DEADLINE: April 29, 2019

The Calvert Association of Educational Support Staff represents the instructional assistants, secretaries, nurses, child care, cafeteria, custodial and maintenance staff in the CCPS.

CAESS will award two (2) $250 scholarships to graduating students from CCPS.

Each student must:
  • Be a relative of a CAESS member in good standing
  • Must complete the application
  • Submit verification of enrollment in or acceptance to school of higher education 
  • Attend school of acceptance/enrollment by fall in the year the scholarship is awarded
  • Submit a transcript from high school guidance office
  • Have two letters of recommendation, at least one from a CCPS staff member
  • 200 word essay, entitled: "What Is Important to Me?"

Federal Resources' Warrior's Legacy Scholarship was created to support the families of those who protect us all, and to give back to those who put their lives on the line for us each and every day.
Award: $5,000
Eligibility: 
  • Be a senior graduating high school in 2019 or be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited technical school, college, or university in the United States.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA based on a 4.0 grading system.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have a parent/guardian with proper service certification (police, EMT, paramedic, fire fighter, military).

Maryland Emergency Management Association 2019 Student Scholarship Program

DEADLINE: April 5, 2019

1) Any member of MDEMA and their immediate family are not eligible for the scholarship
program. Immediate family members are those who reside with MDEMA members.
2) Applicant must be a senior attending an accredited Maryland High School that has been
accepted to a two or four-year college / university.
3) All applications will be reviewed by the Association’s Scholarship Committee. Scholarships

WMCCAI-Scholarship Application

The WMCCAI Essay Contest is open to all high-school seniors within the WMCCAI service area.

Award: $1,000

Requirements: 
  • A grade point average of 2.5 or higher
  • Official H.S. transcript
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Completed application and essay

Judges will base their final decision upon: Best overall essay/presentation of the essay topic: “If You Were a Community Association Board Member, What Changes Would You Like to See in Your Community and How Would You Implement Them?”

WITS offers multiple scholarships to women pursuing a career in computer science, information technology (IT), management information systems, or another related field. Applicants must be enrolled at, or accepted to, a two or four-year college or university in the United States for the 2019 Fall semester.

Candidates will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Applicant Summary
  • Community Service and Extracurricular Activities
  • Leadership Experience and Qualities
Eligibility: At the time of award, women students must be enrolled at, or accepted into, either a two or four-year college or university within the United States for the 2019 – 2020 school year.  At the time of scholarship payment, women students must be enrolled for classes at a college or university within the United States for the Fall 2019 semester. Federal Water Quality Association Scholarship

The Federal Water Quality Association (FWQA) is seeking young women and men preparing for careers in environmental protection to apply for 2019 scholarships. 

Eligibility:
- Graduating seniors from high schools in Washington, DC and surrounding counties, planning on pursuing environmental careers.

Optimist Club of Calvert-Prince Frederick Knapp Scholarship & Jim King Scholarship

DEADLINE: April 15, 2019

Two scholarships will be awarded. First place will receive $8,000 ($2,000 per year), and second place will receive $6,000 ($1,500 per year).

Applicants will be judged on character, citizenship, scholastic ability, community service, and financial need.

Requirements:

  • Must reside in Calvert County and be in the current graduating class of a CCPS School
  • Children, stepchildren, and grandchildren of members of the Optimist Club are not eligible
  • Must be accepted o a college or university approved by the Optimist Club prior to award distribution 
  • Must complete the essay requirements stated on the second page of the application
  • Funds for ensuing years will be paid during the month of August, directly to the student, upon the receipt of a certificate of enrollment for the fall semester and a copy of their current transcript
  • Scholarships are scheduled for four (4) annual payments
  • Recipients of the scholarship are expected to attend the June 10, 2019 meeting of the Optimist Club of Calvert-Prince Frederick to receive their award.

One hundred finalists will be chosen for this scholarship, each receiving $500. Two students will receive awards of $2,500 and $5,000.

Applicants will be chosen based upon:
  • Leadership in School and Community 
  • Participation in School Activities
  • Personal Resume
  • Academics (SAT and GPA documentation preferred)
  • Financial Need
  • References/Recommendation
  • Overall neatness of application

The American Legion Scholarship

DEADLINE: March 31, 2019

The American Legion is awarding scholarships to qualified applicants who seek advanced education in the field of their choice. Such as advanced training, whether it is academic, vocational or technical, may be taken at any school that is accredited.

 Eligibility-
  1. Must be a high school senior, and the child, grandchild, or ward of an honorably discharged service person, MIA, POW, KIA, Killed on Active Duty, or current member of the US Armed Forces or the parent, grandparent, or guardian must be a current or past member of American Legion Post #274 in Lusby, MD.
  2. Must be admitted to school prior to their 25th birthday.
  3. Have a minimum of 12 college credit hours, or the equivalent to each semester. Official transcript from the school that the grades are satisfactory (2.0 on a 4.0 scale).
  4. At the end of each semester, the student shall notify, in writing, the Scholarship Committee I he or she withdraws or fails to enter the college or school.
Reward: Up to $5,000

The Phi Delta Kappa Prospective Educator Scholarships

The PDK Educational Foundation awards more than 30 scholarships each year to prospective educators, with awards ranging from $500 to $5000.  Applications are accepted from January 3, 2019 through April 3, 2019.




PDK Prospective Educator Scholarships are available for high school seniors as well as current undergraduate students. PDK International is a family of education associations, which includes  PDK International,  Educators Rising, and Pi Lambda Theta.  To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be a member of at least one of the associations:
  • PDK International
  • Educators Rising
  • Pi Lambda Delta
