Maryland JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: May 1st, 2023 
Scholarship Value: $1,500
Awards Available: 1

    A $1,500 grant will be awarded to a graduating high school senior in Maryland, who plans to continue their education at a trade or vocational school. The monies must be used for educational expenses in the first year of full-time study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and the educational institution of their choice.

Application Requirements: 
  • Graduating high school seniors in Maryland.
  • Must plant to continue their education at a trade or vocational school.
  • At least one reference letter should be from a trades teacher
  • Your school transcript should be the very last attachment to your application package
  • Trade/Vocational School information 
  • Personal Statement (no more than 500 words)
  • School Acceptance Letter (if applicable)

Dunkin Scholarship

    As proud partners with Scholarship America Dunkin is running their annual Dunkin Scholarship program offering scholarships to deserving students. Optimist Club of Solomons Kenny Hoofnagle Scholarship

Deadline: April 30th, 2023

    Ken Hoofnagle was the optimist club charter president and this scholarship is awarded in honor of the service and dedication that Mr. Hoofnagle exhibited throughout the years of his service to the youth of Calvert County. 

Application Requirements: 
  • Must be residents of Calvert County 
  • Be in current graduating class of Patuxent High School 
  • Must be accepted to college or university that is approved by the optimist club 
  • Transcript and certificate of enrollment 
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or greater 
  • Complete the required essay

NSF-S-STEM scholarship

    College of Southern Maryland‘s NSF S-STEM Scholarship Program is designed to support full-time and part-time (greater than ½-time students) majoring in any of  the following content areas: Bioinformatics, Biology, Biotechnology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Science, Information Technology, Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Geology, Physics) and Mathematics.  Scholarships will be awarded for up to two years based on the lifetime of the grant.  New students and current CSMD students are eligible to apply. Scholarships vary in amount up to $6,000 per year (based on financial need) and can be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment and other needs. Scholarship recipients will be part of a learning community and as such they will be assigned a faculty mentor and will have the opportunity to actively participate in faculty-mentored undergraduate research.


Application Requirements: 
  • Be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or an eligible non-citizen;

  • Have financial need (as defined for undergraduate students by the U.S. Department of Education criteria for Federal Financial Aid);

  • Maintain full-time enrollment (minimum of 12 credits per semester) or part-time enrollment (greater than ½ time)

  • Have and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA;

  • Agree to participate in a one credit seminar, which would include an undergraduate research component, and participate in scholarship program activities.

  • An essay written by the applicant (450-500 words, typed, double-spaced) explaining your interest in your field of study, your qualifications and how you will benefit from this award

  • Complete College of Southern Maryland’s Placement Exam or submit appropriate SAT, ACT, AP or IB scores or demonstrate completion of college level English and Mathematics courses.

  • Letter of recommendation

  • Official Transcript (high school or college, as appropriate)

Southern Maryland Chain (MD) Chapter of the Links Incorporated Scholarship

Deadline: March 24th, 2023 

Scholarship value: $1,800

    Scholarships will be awarded for academic achievement, high school activities (past school year), and the applicant’s ability to effectively articulate thoughts and ideas both orally and in writing. If selected, the candidate will be required to attend a zoom interview during the week of April 17-21, 2023. All Scholarship Recipients will be notified by May 8, 2023.


Application requirements: 

  • Graduating high school senior 
  • Residing in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties 
  • Must plan to attend college full time in the year of graduation (2023)

Morgan State University Southern Maryland Alumni Chapter Scholarship

    All requested documentation must be post marked or emailed to the Education Committee Chairperson,  Mr. Shawn Coates. Once awarded, the scholarship check will be given to the recipient at the MSUSMAC Dinner Dance on 9/9/23 upon receipt of student registration for the 2023-2024 academic year. If you are selected for an interview, you will  be notified via email of the date and time of your interview after your application packet has been received. The interviews  will be held in late April. 


Application requirements: 

  • Graduating senior in class of 2023 
  • Will be attending Morgan State University in the fall semester of 2023 
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

Masonic Charities of Maryland Scholarship

Deadline: March 31st, 2023 
Scholarship value: May vary depending on award 
Awards available: 100

Nearly $70,000 will be awarded to Maryland public high school graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education. One hundred finalists from public schools across the entire state will be selected. Each finalist will receive a $500 scholarship. From these one hundred finalists, six regional winners will be selected to receive an additional $1500 scholarship. From these six, three students will be selected to receive additional scholarships of $1500, $2,500 and of $5,000. Our top three students will receive total
scholarships of $3.500, $4,500, and $7,000.
